We’re a nonprofit working to end harassment — in all its forms. We believe that everyone deserves the resources to respond to, prevent, and intervene in instances of harassment.

We provide free trainings to the public and customized training experiences for businesses, organizations, schools, and colleges. We use any revenue earned, combined with generous donations from people like you, to accelerate efforts to end harassment and provide free trainings to the general public. 

We have proven methodologies in the areas of bystander intervention, conflict de-escalation, harassment prevention, and resilience.  We give much of what we’ve learned away in our free trainings, but to protect the integrity of our work we ask that you not use or re-purpose our methodologies without permission.

BYSTANDER INTERVENTION TRAININGS

Hollaback! teaches bystander intervention using our proven 5D’s methodology: Distract, Delegate, Document, Delay, and Direct. BYSTANDER INTERVENTION: HOW TO BE AN ALLY WHEN YOU WITNESS ONLINE ABUSE. In partnership with PEN America, we have developed a training to teach you how to use Bystander Intervention online. If you’ve ever witnessed someone being abused online, wanted to step in, but had no idea what to do, join this training.

We partnered with Eye to Eye to develop this training to teach people how to use Hollaback!’s 5D’s of bystander intervention methodology if they see stigma perpetuated around learning differences online or in person. 

BYSTANDER INTERVENTION IN PUBLIC SPACES TRAINING
We will equip you with the right information on how to be an effective bystander in the midst of public space harassment using our proven 5D’s methodology, our five strategies for intervention.

 

BYSTANDER INTERVENTION TO SUPPORT LATINX COMMUNITIES IN PUBLIC SPACES TRAINING
To bring awareness to the increase of harassment toward the Latinx community in recent years, we offer this training to train people on how to safely intervene when they witness Latinx people experiencing harassment in public using Hollaback!’s 5D’s of bystander intervention.

 

CONFLICT DE-ESCALATION

Conflict de-escalation requires patience, a willingness to listen, and an ability to see the humanity in everyone, even those we don’t agree with or who seek to hurt us. Using Hollaback!’s Observe-Breathe-Connect methodology, we’ll learn how to identify potential conflict before it escalates using our “pyramid of escalation” and how to assess whether intervening is the right action.

RESPONDING TO AND PREVENTING HARASSMENT

Ending harassment requires a complex set of solutions. In addition to bystander intervention, we walk people through how to respond to harassment when it happens to them using our methodology: Trust Your instincts, Reclaim Your Space, and Practice Resilience. We also teach people how to show up they accidentally perpetuate disrespect, and how explore their own implicit biases.

8 STRATEGIES TO MITIGATE IMPLICIT BIASEveryone holds implicit biases.  That doesn’t make us “bad people,” it just means that we have work to do.  Through polls, brief thought experiments, and journaling, we’ll teach you how to understand and begin to undo your own implicit biases.  Sign up here.

We also offer consulting packages for management seeking to shore up organization’s infrastructure to support their staff in the event of online harassment.

 

HOW TO LEAD DISCUSSIONS ABOUT RACISM: A PRIMER FOR FACILITATORS Recognizing the hostility and division permeating our present social dynamic, in this 90-minute training Hollaback! helps facilitators create a welcoming space for conversation across lines of difference.

 

RESILIENCE TRAININGS

The interactive, and experiential learning experience will teach you how to author your own resilience using Hollaback!’s resilience methodology: sit with what is, create your story, and be in choice. Using guided practices, we’ll learn practices to recover quickly when we’re knocked down by the world.
